I first heard the name Madame Alexander when I was 7 years old. My mother and grandmother had taken me to the John Wanamaker department store in Philadelphia to see Santa Claus and ride the monorail that was attached to the ceiling in the toy department.

Mary Senko created World Doll Day Shows with the goal of making every day a doll day, following the example of Mildred Seeley of Seeley Dolls, who established World Doll Day in the 1980s to encourage collectors to give a doll to a friend and spread the hobby. Senko launched World Doll Day Shows last year with events in Arizona, California, and Washington.
