From the creative mind of dollmaker Sandy Anderson come Millie — a new 15-inch (38 cm) ball-jointed doll — and her beloved toy bunny, Bun. The adorable pair are being offered exclusively through DOLLS.

Millie is a resin doll with a fair skin tone. She is a limited edition of 20. In addition to Bun, Millie comes with a blond wig, stunning blue glass eyes, a hand-painted face, and a complete outfit. Erin Green of Cottontail Doll Designs skillfully designed and sewed Millie’s blue and pink dress, which features an Alice in Wonderland print. Green also designed the matching shoes. When everything is put together, one is left with the impression that Millie and Bun have stepped right out of the pages of the classic story.

Anderson created the limited-edition dolls in her Derry, New Hampshire, home. She said, “I spent months sculpting Millie’s face in clay, and in the end, I was very happy. It’s always a challenge making what you see in your head come to life in your hands, but I think Millie looks pretty close to what I imagined.”

Bun was a work in progress even before Millie came along. “I had already been sculpting a bunny doll for years,” Anderson said. “I made a few changes and then handed her over to my son, who does amazing digital work. He scanned Bun, digitally cleaned her up, and made her face even more adorable and symmetrical. He’s brilliant.”

Inspiration for Millie came from Anderson’s love for one particularly fluffy family member. She said, “I sculpted my Millie doll in honor of a bunny I adopted years ago from the SPCA in Stratham, New Hampshire, where I would frequent and donate food. Many bunnies are surrendered to the SPCA shortly after Easter. Millie was one of those Easter bunnies; she totally captured my heart, and I brought her home with me. She was the sweetest, sassiest little Lionhead bunny, with wispy, flowy long hair. I kept Millie’s original name, but I would usually call her Bun for short. I had Millie for over six years, and I was devastated when she passed. So, this doll is a tribute to my beloved bunny and my love of dolls.”

Just like Millie the bunny, Anderson describes her doll as having a sweet and sassy personality. She said Millie also “loves her bunny doll, and like me, she loves Alice in Wonderland.”

Now, Millie and Bun are ready to begin their next adventure. For those fortunate enough to get their hands on one of these special dolls, there is much to look forward to, as Anderson is in the process of making additional items for Millie to play with. She said, “Millie and Bun have inspired a series that I have been working on called Millie’s Toybox, so there will be more toys to come! I’m working on a super-cute kitty cat now.”
