Svaha, an online seller of STEAM- (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) themed clothing for adults and children, is expanding its line even further to include designs for dolls. Svaha’s new doll dresses, sized to fit 18-inch dolls like American Girl, are available in several designs matching the fashions offered for kids, as well.

“My website sells STEAM-themed dresses for kids,” said Svaha Founder Jaya Iyer. “There is a lot of research that shows that role-play with dolls helps kids build social skills and empathy. I thought to myself, ‘what could be better than a science-loving kid dressing up their dolls in matching clothing and doing science experiments or playing science games?’

“For her 10th birthday, my daughter asked for a doll. When I bought the doll for her, she immediately wanted more clothes so she could change her into different outfits every day. That’s when I decided to create doll clothing. I had received several requests for doll clothing in the past, but I didn’t think many people would care about matching clothes. However, now that we have started bringing these clothes in, I can see how much kids love to match with their dolls.

“I am all about science, and if research proves that playing with dolls helps kids with development, I want to take one step ahead and make STEAM-themed clothing for dolls! I hope that kids enjoy teaching math to their dolls or create some amazing structures using their play tools.”
