Renowned antiques doll dealer Richard Wright passed away March 1, 2009, at age 62. He suffered from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). A member of NADDA and UFDC, Wright was a guest appraiser on “Antiques Roadshow.” The much-loved antique doll authority also owned a shop—Richard Wright Antiques & Dolls—located west of Philadelphia.
Wright’s love for antiques started early, as he was born to used-furniture dealing parents. At just 14 years old, he opened his first shop in 1960 and spent the next several decades growing his business.
