Casie Brabham Designs and Makes Cloth Dolls
DOLLS: What type of dolls do you make?
Casie Brabham: I make cloth dolls for children and collectors.
DOLLS: How did you get your start in dollmaking?
Brabham: I have collected and made dolls for over 20 years in many genres. I started sewing in my early 20s and started by making Raggedy Ann dolls. I eventually evolved into creating my own patterns for baby dolls.
DOLLS: Is your dollmaking influenced by anything in particular?
Brabham: My influences are childhood and happy memories. I also was obsessed with Cabbage Patch Kids when I was a child, so I’m sure there is some influence there.
DOLLS: What do you like most about dollmaking?
Brabham: Getting lost in the dollmaking process. Sewing, in particular, is very soothing for me because I’ve been doing it for so long. If I need to chill out but want to be active, sewing is my go-to.
DOLLS: Who are the intended buyers of your dolls?
Brabham: My dolls cater to adult collectors and children. I also sell patterns and kits for anyone wanting to experience making their own doll. I try to have something for all doll lovers.
DOLLS: Where can your dolls be purchased?
Brabham: In my Etsy shop or directly from social media.
DOLLS: If someone wants to learn more about your dolls, what should they do?
Brabham: Visit my social media pages or my Etsy shop.
