BlytheCon Las Vegas 2024 took place at the StarBase venue. The theme was Space, so aliens, little green dolls, spacecraft, and pop culture references to outer space were everywhere. There were 160 attendees, who shopped 50 amazing vendor booths. Jair Retureta commented, “I had a blast reconnecting with old friends and was excited to meet new ones and am just in awe with all the talented artists and the diversity in their creations.”

The day included workshops on ordering Blythe dolls and accessories directly from sellers in Japan (taught by Cybermelli, aka Melissa Grecco) and rerooting a Blythe doll (taught by Doll Planet Hair). A delicious taco lunch buffet was served alongside a cash bar. A mini-me contest delighted attendees and was won by Lisa Esping, who dressed as her stock Blythe UFO A Go Go. A Miss Martian pageant highlighted all the Blythe dolls dressed as aliens.

Each attendee received a backpack stuffed with goodies, including a tiny alien Miss Martian from Grenadine Supreme (aka Ion Tallman). Attendees could also enter to win amazing outfits, accessories, and OOAK and stock dolls. Kitty Katz said, “It’s always fun to gather with new and old friends, but Las Vegas had an especially enchanting theme. Seeing everyone dressed in their related outfits and the Miss Martian pageant were some of the highlights.”

A pre-meet was held on Friday at the Fountain of the Gods in Caesars Palace. Gamblers and shoppers wandering the hotel weren’t quite sure what to make of the enthusiastic Blythe fans and their dolls, but everyone was excited to share their love of the hobby with any passerby who asked a question.

BlytheCons are hosted by different fans in different cities. Erin Williams and Tallman, who coordinated BlytheCon Las Vegas, said, “A huge shoutout to all our volunteers, workshop and program organizers, vendors, and attendees who make these events the best possible.” The next BlytheCon will take place in Detroit, Michigan, in August 2025.
