DOLLS: What type of dolls do you make?
Lesley Duthie: I sculpt and handmake one-of-a-kind porcelain fantasy character dolls that each have a story and adventure they tell through my blog on my website.
DOLLS: How did you get your start in dollmaking?
Duthie: I first made dolls in memory of my mother. Then I opened my own porcelain doll shop, where I taught classes and sold doll supplies. I now sculpt my own dolls and make them unique by only doing one casting for each of my characters.

DOLLS: Is your dollmaking influenced by anything in particular?
Duthie: Fairy tales and the belief in magic are what inspire me, along with storytelling, which my characters allow me to do.
DOLLS: What do you like most about dollmaking?
Duthie: Discovering the personalities and the beginning of their stories when I start sculpting them.
DOLLS: Who are the intended buyers of your dolls?
Duthie: I make dolls for collectors who like something unique and maybe enjoy knowing the world my characters live in. I price my dolls so they are hopefully affordable but not so they don’t also reflect the quality that goes into them.

DOLLS: Where can your dolls be purchased?
Duthie: They are sold on my website only.
DOLLS: If someone wants to learn more about your dolls, what should they do?
Duthie: People can find me on my website, where they can sign up for a weekly updated newsletter. I am also on Facebook and Instagram.
