Pure Aesthetic Pleasure
Written by Carie Ferg

I love when I open an image of a new doll or an artist’s work I’ve never seen before and my breath catches in my throat and my heart pounds a little faster.

I love when I open an image of a new doll or an artist’s work I’ve never seen before and my breath catches in my throat and my heart pounds a little faster. When that happens, I know the dollmaker has done that special thing she's capable of doing with her work. Then I just sit for a minute greedily taking in every detail of the doll: her pose, her curves, the color of her skin, the details on her costume and the materials used. And after that moment of pure aesthetic pleasure passes, I reluctantly close the picture and move on to my next task. But my life is slightly more enriched because of those moments, and I anticipate the next time it will happen, taking me by surprise with a physiological response.

You've captured that feeling perfectly.
