San Diego in January 2010

Who doesn't love the thought of warm weather when it is freezing outside!  Last week we braved a winter drive to balmy San Diego, and it was just that.  To quote my good friend who was also there, 'don't bother me, surf's up'....and it was, to 14ft! We had a terrific 2 days of dolls, teddy bears, and so much more.

Who doesn't love the thought of warm weather when it is freezing outside!  Last week we braved a winter drive to balmy San Diego, and it was just that.  To quote my good friend who was also there, 'don't bother me, surf's up'....and it was, to 14ft! The Sheraton was over-run with ladies (and gentlemen) so excited to get inside, that we had to open early.  One of the vendors, Brenda Pollock-Smith, was clever enough to capture some of the inventory right before the show openned and put it on youtube.com    So check it out, the listing is under San Deigo Bear Show 2010.

It was wonderful to see a group of ladies from a local doll club donating their time to sell the collection of an ill club member.  Equally as heartwarming were the ladies from the Good Bears of the World who sponsored a raffle and silent auction to benefit their efforts for children around the world.  Both of these sights really reminded me that our doll and teddy bear community is really a family.

And what about the show, WOW is all I can say.  The vendors were an international group that pretty much blew my socks off.  The group was mainly teddy bear and critter artists, with a good group of antique doll, toys and antique bear folks mixed in.  The visual was stunning, the creativity was leading edge stuff, prices reasonable, and the crowd was having too much fun to describe.  If this is what 2010 has in store for us at the shows....I'm in, feet first and dancing!
