Now that she’s successfully tested — and navigated — the waters of full-fledged dollmaking, Cristy Stone is setting her creative sights on the realms of fantasy and history. The popular doll-repaint artist introduced her first ball-jointed doll (BJD), “Gracelyn,” in 2011. The 62 cm (almost 24 ½ inches) stunner was an immediate hit with collectors.

Now Accepting Entries For the 2014 DOLLS Awards of Excellence!

The DOLLS Awards of Excellence (DAE), also known as the Diamond Awards, recognizes and encourages excellence in the design and creation of dolls. Photos of all the entries are reviewed by an esteemed panel of judges, who evaluate each submission on overall aesthetic appeal, excellence in concept, design, and execution, and quality of material and workmanship; the highest-scoring creations in each category receive the DAE Industry’s Choice Awards and become the nominees for that year’s DAE Public’s Choice Awards. DOLLS readers then vote for their favorite nominee in each category to determine the Public’s Choice winners. Show the doll world your talent — enter this year's DAE competition!

Prettie Girls! Fun, Fashion from One World Doll Project

Trent T. Daniel and former Mattel designer Stacey McBride-Irby founded The One World Doll Project (OWP) in 2010, aiming to create multiracial fashion dolls that represent contemporary girls and women. The company recently launched its Prettie Girls line with African-American Lena and Hispanic-American Valencia. In addition to the play line, the OWP just released its Cynthia Bailey Prettie Girls Signature Collector Doll depicting the businesswoman, model, and reality star featured on Bravo Network’s “Real Housewives of Atlanta.”
