To Whom It May Concern;
The Central Jersey Family Health Consortium is a non profit organization, a 501(c) 3, serving Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Somerset, Ocean, Monmouth, and the Plainfield section of Union County. Our mission is to improve the health of women of childbearing age, infants, and children in the region through the collaborative efforts of member hospitals, providers, and consumers. Our primary activities include consumer and professional education, outreach initiatives, and coordination of services.
The Department of Health and Senior Services Office of Minority and Multicultural Health has declared September Minority and Multicultural Health Month. The theme this year is Eating Healthy, Growing Strong, Living Long. In recognition, the Consortium will be sponsoring an event, titled Mother’s Day in September. The event will take place on September 15, 2011, at the Anshe Emeth Memorial Temple in New Brunswick. The targeted population include Middlesex and Somerset County families, involved with community outreach programs. The activities are designed to provide mothers with a respite, and the opportunity to gain knowledge to promote health and well being. Topics include how to prepare healthy snacks for the family, the importance of diet and exercise, related to health and wellness. The importance of Preconception, Prenatal and Interconception Care will also be addressed. Additional education will focus on improving public awareness about the risks of tobacco, alcohol and other drug use, especially during pregnancy.
The Consortium is seeking your support to make this community event a great success by contributing a monetary or material donation. Material donations will allow us to provide families with some necessities for their new babies. Monetary donations will be used to purchase gifts, baby necessities, supplies, and information that promote healthy living. Donations are greatly appreciated. Your support helps to ensure a successful community program, designed to address health and overall well being of women, infants and children.
If you have an interest in making a monetary or material donation, please contact the Consortium. The contact person is Dana Lee Brown LCPC, MA, CADC, CBT, CTC, Perinatal Risk Reduction Specialist for the Perinatal Addiction Prevention Project. Phone number is (732)937-5437. E-mail address is
