In The Charity Issue produced by DOLLS magazine, the cover doll, “Chari,” was donated by artist Berdine Creedy for a reader contest. To earn a chance to win the doll, readers were asked to give any amount of money for charity to be donated to Beautiful Gate Lesotho located in South Africa. Readers donated $145 to the cause, and Karen Schoewe of Naples, Fla., was the lucky winner of the doll. Additionally, Jones Publishing, publisher of DOLLS magazine, donated 10-percent of net proceeds from advertising and book sales to the charities covered in the issue’s editorial section. A total of $228 was earned for the charities. Finally, as referenced in The Charity Issue, Jones Publishing also scaled back its company Christmas part and instead donated $535 to Polio Plus, a Rotary International cause to eradicate the disease. To order The Charity Issue book, call (800) 331-0038, ext. 132, today! It’s priced at $15, and 10-percent of proceeds from sales will be donated to charity |
