I don't remember my paper dolls, but I know I did love them and spent hours playing with them. I can't remember what they were dolls of. They were just paper dolls--no one famous or recognizable. I bought some for my granddaughters recently, and it was like they had no idea what a paper doll was. It was of Fancy Nancy. They knew her from the stories but couldn't figure out what to do with the paper doll. I don't know if paper dolls will be around much longer, which is sad. I guess paper dolls are going to become very valuable and very rare.

This is very true. Paper dolls do shred easily, but they stay in your heart forever. I had paper dolls from Mary Poppins, and occasionally think about them. Don't know why. They just pop into my head! Poppins just pops in! Glad to know I'm not alone in feeling sad about 40-year-old paper dolls.

Ah yes! The infamous Esther Williams paper doll with the gold lame' swimsuit!
I can still remember feeling envy (or however that word translates within a little girl of 4) when my older sister Diane, chose the doll with the up swept hair-do and the shiny gold bathing suit, even as I clutched the other (my) paper doll with all of her glamorous clothes! I can still remember peering over the back of the sofa that afternoon, through the venetian blinds, to see my Mom come up the walk carrying the surprise she bought for us. For whatever reason, clear and wonderful memories of that day, my Mom, my "big" sister, and those cool paper dolls, have never left me and finding them on ebay was so great that I have never regretted buying them. Bidding on a memory on ebay: 120.00. Owning the doll with the gold lame' bathing suit: Priceless! Generic viagra canada |
